When man bargains in his mind,
Eternally wishing he were God,
Times up.

You’re too smart for your own good.
Too wise to pray.
Too white-haired to be prepared.

Surprise awaits so many,
Those who postulate,
Instead of lie prostrate.

Words may ring hollow,
but take up the cross and follow.
To make yourself whole,
Give up the leading role.
